Ever wondered how well your gut actually functions? Now you can find out with a home microbiome test kit.
The gut microbiome is a community of bacteria living in your colon. It plays an important role in the body, supporting proper digestion, protecting you against pathogenic bacteria and strengthening your immune system. Read more: The Human Microbiome: Why Microbes Could Be Key To Your Health.
Your body also has a natural predisposition to certain diseases, the ability to digest certain types of foods such as fibre and how well you produce certain nutrients such as B1, B6 and probiotics.
Discover the actions you should take to make positive and recommended dietary and lifestyle changes and remove the guesswork by taking a Microbiome Analysis Test by Atlas Biomed via the at-home, stool sample kit, which contains many bacterial DNA to identify which stains of bacteria are living in your gut.
The Atlas Microbiome Test was developed by an international team of scientists and reviewed by the Scientific Board of Advisors based on the results of 20,000 research studies. Clear links have been established for many aspects of our health, like microbiome protection from specific diseases, immunity, vitamin production, diet and nutrition.
Take the test in the privacy of your own home and drop it in the nearest post box. You will be guided through your results by a friendly nutritional adviser who will answer all your questions. End result: a personalised, evidence-based eating plan to boost the health of your gut microbiome.
What you will learn from your microbiome test:

Discover the unique composition of your gut bacteria, your microbiome health score and protection from 5 disease risks.
The ratios of different bacteria in your gut can influence your level of protection from obesity, diabetes type II, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis and coronary heart disease.
The diversity of your microbiome assesses the number of species present and their ability to synthesise vitamins and butyrate, an important short-chain fatty acid that helps maintain the integrity of your gut lining.
The test establishes a personalised list of recommended foods from 300+ different foods on a weekly basis that can balance your microbiome health in 17 areas.
VITAMINS & NUTRITION
Gut bacteria produce vitamins and may influence nutrient levels in the body. You'll receive information on the proportion of probiotics and beneficial bacteria, micronutrient synthesis potential and diversity score.
This test evaluates your gut bacteria’s ability to break down dietary fibre, which is essential for microbiome and overall health.
The microbiome breaks down dietary fibre in butyrate, an essential short-chain fatty acid that maintains the gut lining and prevents inflammation.
Most people’s microbiomes fall into one of 3 categories. Understand your personalised bacterial composition - the list of bacteria found in your microbiome (%) and what enterotype you belong to.
Determines how resistant your microbiome is to negative factors.
People in different places have different microbiomes. This test shows what nationality your diet is most similar to.
CHANGES IN THE MICROBIOME
The microbiome is strongly influenced by external factors like eating habits, antibiotics, illness and more. This also means that you can strengthen it by modifying your diet.
Discover your results, follow the recommendations to enhance your microbiome, then check how did you do? Check your progress by taking the test at regular intervals (every 3 months if possible) and after any important changes in your lifestyle, which will allow you to make positive changes for your overall well-being:
HOW IT WORKS
For ages 18+. Laboratory results may take up to 6 weeks to process
You order - Receive one, at-home Atlas Microbiome Test Kit. Please allow 5 - 7 days for your collection kit to arrive.
Microbiome Test Kit contents - Instructions, Brochure, Spatula, Sample collection tube, Box
Register your kit before collecting the sample: - To register your kit go to https://atlasbiomed.com/account and register your personal account. In the account you should register the barcode that is located on the container, which is inside the box. Please remember that, if you do not register this barcode, Atlas will not be able to give you access to your results.
Stool sample - Please read the instructions carefully so you do not affect the quality of your sample and risk having to collect the sample again. As the container is the size of a test tube, let us give you some tips:
Pee before you poop - it’s not optional. If you urinate on your stool sample, then it’ll ruin your sample and the paper collar.
Get all your tools out from the box and have them close to the toilet: the paper collar, the tube and the “poop scoop” spatula.
Use the paper collar: slide it over the toilet seat to the location closest to your rectum. That way, when you defecate, the stool lands on the paper and you can collect your sample.
Use the little plastic “spoon” to collect a small chunk of stool (just enough to cover the head of the spatula) and CAREFULLY put it in the tube. Don’t scoop up a big piece, it won’t fit and you’ll have poop on and around the tube, maybe even your fingers.
ONLY unscrew the lid of the tube. DO NOT MESS WITH THE OTHER PART. If you do, your sample will be invalid.
Seal the tube and shake to mix it up with the liquid solution inside. This liquid keeps the bacterial DNA intact during shipping. Keep your sample at room temperature. You don’t need to put it in the fridge.
Put the sealed tube in the biohazard bag. Seal the box with your sample inside.
Mail and postage - Return your sample back to Atlas Biomed by mail, in the same box in which it arrived. The original box already includes prepaid postage, so you only have to drop it into the postbox.
Atlas will analyse your microbiome - Your sample is analysed in a certified EU laboratory, accredited with ISO 17025 using Illumina technology. The DNA fragments in your sample are studied to identify your microbes and evaluate their proportion in the microbiome.
It may take 4–8 weeks before your results are available on your personal account. Every sample is analysed on a case-by-case basis and Atlas Biomed will notify you personally if there are any changes to this timeframe.
Atlas use algorithms based on published scientific research to analyse your microbiome, interpret the data and establish personalised lifestyle recommendations for you.
Discover your results - After your microbiome test is complete, you'll receive an email notification that your results are ready.
24/7 access to explore your results and lifestyle recommendations on your personal account on the Atlas website or via their downloadable apps concerning:

Jess - Dentist
"I think it’s a brilliant tool to understand your own DNA and microbiome. This is particularly useful if you’re struggling with a certain aspect of your training or diet. I really liked the fact that they included a scientific paper with each disease process to reinforce the data and suggestions they were making".
"It advised me to increase the proportion of the beneficial bacteria by including foods from a recommended list in my diet to help balance my gut’s ecosystem and overall health. I was so pleased to see that Atlas wasn’t trying to flog me expensive health supplements, but were instead recommending increased consumption of about 70 different foods".
